I am a central IL based photographer and am passionate about capturing candid, natural shots! I love the creativity that comes with photography, as well as the social aspect - meeting new people! I have always loved photos and some might even say it’s in my blood ;) but I think why I am so passionate about capturing these special moments in peoples lives is because even if it is just for one moment, I was able to save a laugh or happy tears or a shocking surprise for people to love for years and years.
When I am not doing photography, I am attending school at IWU (Go Titans!), playing volleyball with my amazing teammates, editing /working on photos and location scouting with my cool siblings, or hanging out with friends probably at a cute little coffee place!

My name is Katherine but you might also know me as Kate, Kathy, Kath, Kat, Mae, and KateMae! While I have so many nicknames, my most favorite people in the world have always called me either Kate or Mae so I decided to call this special little photo business of mine KateMae Photos!

About the Biz!
KateMae photos has been running for almost one year! It is a new business that I created just as the COVID-19 pandemic began. This special photo business of mine is the most amazing silver lining during this time because I was finally given free time /rest to take a step back, take a deep breathe, and finally create a dream of mine I have put on hold for so long. I am so happy to say that today I am the owner & creator of something positive that has come from the pandemic! I have learned many things, both good and difficult, in the past few months but am so grateful to be where I am and wouldn’t change a thing!
Why Photography?
I have always loved and appreciated creating fun photos for friends and family growing up. I love making people feel happy and confident to be themselves, while capturing their joy and sharing these moments with them! I started this photography business because other than having a big learning hunger and passion for photography, I wanted to be able to make everyone feel self-confident and loved and beautiful in their own skin! Creating comfortable and natural photo shoots with friends has / continues to allow me to capture enjoyable, candid moments and turn them into something memorable and tangible!
My goal is to make people feel confident and comfortable in their skin! I strive to create fun and unique opportunities for each client and spread kindness / self love along the way!

I am enneagram type 7 - which means I’m super extraverted, optimistic, flexible & spontaneous!
I strive to bring my type 7 energy with me to every photo shoot to create a fun, original experience!
